We’re just about a month away from the start of the 2012 Saints Philip & James CYO Track & Field Season!

Get ready to shake off those winter blues – registration for the season will begin in early February here (http://www.sspjcyo.net/) and the season starts March 1 for grades 4 – 8, and March 15 for subnovices.

We are looking forward to a great season featuring:

Training for sprints, relays, distance runs, jumps, and throws
Four Regular Meets
Saint Elizabeth Relay Carnival
Team Mass and Dinner
Penn Relays at Franklin Field
Regional, Area, and Archdiocese Championships
Fun and Fitness for kids Kindergarten Through Eighth Grade

Please check the Parent’s FAQ (here) for more information about the program. The practice and meet schedule will be updated as these get finalized.

SSPJ Track & Field is open to any member of the parish, children do not need to attend the parish school to participate. Please contact Don Robson at don@robsonind.com if you have any questions, and we hope to see you soon!

CHANGED TIME TEAM MASS

Congratulations to our Panthers for completing the first Cross Country Race of the season! Philadelphia’s CYO Cross Country Program is the largest of it’s kind in the United States. This first race of the season, the first of eight of the day, featured 250 runners!

Meet this Sunday September 18th (Walk Through)

The walk-through for the meet on Sunday begins at 12PM – even though the meet doesn’t begin until 1 PM. I highly recommend that you attend the walk through.

Team Mass

The SSPJ XC CYO Team Mass will be the 10:30 Mass on September 25th. We will meet 10 minutes before hand in the vestibule and we will enter and sit together. Athletes should wear their team uniform shirt (only) over an appropriate dress shirt. Sub Novs are permitted to wear their tee shirts.

August 25, 2011…Due to the lighting and rain predicted off and on for the duration of the day we are canceling Cross Country practice for this afternoon. We will next practice again on Saturday Aug. 27th at 9 AM at DEHS.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Congratulations to everyone that participated in tonight’s Penn Relays!

The teams did an awesome job –

Junior Girls – :64.21 (2nd in Heat, 51st Place Overall)
Junior Boys – :66.18 (7th in Heat, 78th Place Overall)
Senior Girls – :55.62 (1st in Heat, 19th Overall)
Senior Boys – :51.74 (2nd in Heat, 21st Overall)
